Registration now open for spring semester SAT prep classes at Lemont

Beginning in January, Lemont High School will offer SAT 1600, a test preparation program designed to familiarize students with the SAT. Registration has begun for SAT 1600, which is open to all Lemont High School juniors, as well as juniors from other area schools.

Students may choose between two seven-week programs, each of which consists of two-hour weekly sessions that run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Lemont High School. The first session begins on Tuesday, January 30, and will meet each Tuesday through March 12. The second session will meet on Wednesdays from Wednesday, January 31, through March 13. Students in both sessions will take a Practice SAT during the week of March 4; that week’s session will run from 6:30-9 p.m.

The course costs $345 for the seven sessions, which includes the textbook and Practice SAT. An additional week will be added if school is cancelled due to inclement weather or other circumstances.

The deadline to register for one of the school’s SAT 1600 programs is January 14 or once sections are filled. Students must register and pay online. A late fee will be added to registrations after January 14.

The goal of SAT 1600 is to give students the confidence, strategies and content necessary to score their personal best on the SAT. The course does this by familiarizing students with the elements of the SAT, from content and timing to pacing and strategies. The course also reviews difficult concepts, specifically in English and mathematics, and allows students an opportunity to take a practice exam. All SAT 1600 instructors are carefully trained and certified.

The Illinois State Board of Education mandates that all school districts participate in an annual statewide assessment. Lemont High School’s Class of 2025 will take the SAT on Wednesday, April 10.
